The basis of Ka-Chi’s music is a term he defines as Soul Liberty:

1) Seeking Freedom,
2) Pursuing Happiness through Love
3) Living in truth.

The singer-songwriter cites philosopher Abraham Maslow’s writing on Self Actualization when describing his theme; When you hear Ka-Chi’s story, it becomes obvious to why this is so relevant to him.

Ka-Chi has lived in three continents, drawing material for his art from a wealth of cultural mixes and experiences. Music came at an early age, first as a listener from as far back as a toddler, then as a songwriter in pre teenage years when his parents brought home an electronic keyboard. His early influences ranged in style and genre from Bob Marley whose influence was heavily felt in Africa during his youth, to Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, and indigenous artists such as Afrobeat King Fela Kuti and Onyeka Onwenu.

Ka-Chi immigrated to the United States in 1998, like many before him in search of opportunity and the fulfillment of dreams. The starting point on America was academics and Ka-Chi completed a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. However as fate would have it, in 2004 music came around full circle and returned in the form of an acoustic guitar. Ka-Chi began putting his songwriting skills to work again, this time with a new instrument. His first recording, a 5 song EP titled “Soul Liberty-demos sessions” featured the critically acclaimed single, (Give my) Soul Liberty; a song that captures his theme.  This debut EP was self produced and released in 2006.

The musical journey has led to a growing list of eclectic songs with a signature soulful world-folk/reggae flavor. Lyrical dexterity is the underlying strength - the ability to tell stories and deliver messages over entertaining rhythms and with such soul, are some endearing qualities of the music. He doesn't call himself a singer-songwriter, but a troubadour. His style has garnered comparisons to Bob Marley, Cat Stevens, Ben Harper, Richie Havens, and other great acoustic acts delivering music with heatfelt lyrics.

The early songs have themes dealing more so with the journey of self discovery through personal struggle and growth, and also carry messages of love, relationship, social concerns, and the occasional whimsical collection of intelligent lyrics.

Through his music, Ka-Chi shares experiences both real and fictional, personal or from an onlooker's perspective, and sometimes controversial, but the direction is always positive and inspirational.

Ka-Chi has performed extensively in the Mid-Atlantic area with appearances at World Cafe Live and other notable venues in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia. He has also made a number of FM radio features and his music is now receiving airplay on various stations including WEAA 88.9FM Baltimore, WLOY 1620AM Baltimore, WCSB 89.3FM Cleveland, and a number of internet radio and other streaming avenues. In December 2007, Ka-Chi embarked on a month long tour through the eastern half of the US covering 10 cities and received a rousing welcome at every stop. He has now followed up his debut "Soul Liberty-demo sessions" with a sophomore full lenght release aptly titled "Come on Home". The new album summarizes his experiences during all his travels and continues on the path of self discovery through Soul Liberty.
